The spirit of Martin Luther King resonated in the room as the keynote speaker Rev. Dr. Jamie Washington challenged the audience to continue to make King’s vision a reality.
The event kicked off the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, but it was more than that; it was a reminder to the students that work can still be done, and to never settle.
Chancellor Bardo and Intercultural Affairs constructed this event to inform the university of Western Carolina’s progress to continue to diversify across the campus. Over the years Chancellor Bardo has watched diversity at WCU increase to 17% and he hopes for continuous growth in the years to come.
