Chancellor Dr. David Belcher has opened a new chapter in the planning for the future of Western Carolina University.
He brought many new ideas to WCU including one that involves a 36-member committee that will lead the university in development for the next decade. The group, The 2020 Commission, is made up from university faculty, staff, and students. There are also members from the broader community including alumni, donors, friends, and business/community leaders.
Chancellor Belcher is not part of the committee, but he firmly believes in what the committee stands for.
“The charge is to lead the university and community in strategic planning and look forward in what we want WCU to be in 10 years and figure (out) the steps from here to there,” said Belcher. He promised full transparency of the process in planning the university’s future.
