Jobs had been battling pancreatic cancer for several years and had a liver transplant in 2006.  He wanted to keep his disease in the knowledge of his family; even the board of trustees for Apple was unaware of the extent of his illness.

He died in the company of his family and according to them he went “peacefully”.

Six weeks ago Jobs resigned as CEO from Apple for health reasons.  He had said in August that he would let the people know when the day came that he wouldn’t be able to fulfill his duties as CEO he would leave and that unfortunately he could sense that day was rapidly approaching.

Jobs started Apple, with friend Steve Wozniak in his parents’ garage.  The two were young and had a vision to simplify the way we live our lives everyday.  Jobs turned the Apple vision into a billion dollar business within the first ten years.

In the 80s Jobs was publicly let go by Apple and he then began another computer company by the name of NEXT and took over at PIXAR studios.  In 1996 Apple bought out Jobs’s company NEXT and gave him the title of CEO.

The sky was the limit for Jobs and Apple.  In the years following his new job title he and Apple put out products such as the iMac, iTunes, iPod, iPhone, & the iPad.

With Jobs death it now has many people asking what direction will Apple & the rest of the technological world take, but one thing is certain, the world will miss the brilliance of another Steve Jobs.
