The annual alumni scholarship golf tournament was Friday at the Sequoia National Golf Club. Former Catamounts teed off at 11 a.m. for an afternoon of entertainment and golf.
The event had 48 golfers, which were split into 4 man/woman teams. The tournament is a chance for alumni to showcase their golfing skills while catching up with old friends. The fee for this event was $85 a person, which included 18 holes of golf and a dinner after the round.
The event is a highlight of the homecoming week for everyone involved.
Part time administrative assistant in the Department of Alumni Affairs, Ken Teasley, always enjoys the event.
“Anytime we can get alumni back in the area it helps create and maintain enthusiasm to benefit current students and for those who have graduated from here.”
Most of the players in the tournament donate money to the school throughout the year and they give more as a part of this golf tournament.
“It’s not generally a great deal of money donated on the event. The main focus is entertainment for the alumni participating,” said Teasley. “We are always happy to get the alumni back to the mountains.”
