Western Carolina University welcomes its new class this weekend before the new school year begins on Monday, Aug. 20.
The freshman move-in starts on Friday, Aug. 17 when around 1,500 new students get in the school groove. Expect changed and heavy traffic on campus. The freshman convocation starts 5.30 p.m. in the Liston B. Ramsey Regional Activity Center.
On Saturday, as part of the Week of Welcome students can enjoy an afternoon of fun and free pizza at the Valley Ballyhoo on the A.K. Hinds University Center lawn. The events start at 4:30 p.m. and the concerts at 7 p.m. with Kovacs and the Polar Bear and Floating Action.
On Sunday, students can tour The Village or go tubing on the Tuck for ten dollars.
