One of WCU’s student organizations is daring to stand out from the others. When you take runway walking (modeling), music, and dancing you get Evolution Modeling Troupe.
“A modeling troupe is an organization or agency that promotes fashion, and dance. We do urban modeling which consists of a series or twist and turns at the end of a runway. We teach people to have self-confidence,” said President of Evolution, Perry Widemon.
Evolution began practicing for their showcase since last semester, and continues to practice even harder with the first show around the corner.
Evolution’s premiere’s their show titled, The Evolution of Fashion on April 20, 2013 in the A.K. Hinds University Center’s Grandroom at 7 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Department of Intercultural Affairs, and the theme of their show will take the audience throughout different eras, from the past to present time.
“I expect to get the word out about Evolution and let people see exactly what the organization does. Hopefully we will gain more members in the future for upcoming shows. WCU doesn’t have a lot of urban clubs on campus, so I want to bring that diversity to our students on campus,” said Widemon.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will also be available. Come out and support this new organization as they embark on their journey to success changing the way WCU views fashion.
