Hundreds of kids and parents had fun trick or treating and playing games in front of the Western Carolina University Greek Village residence area dressed up as their favorite characters.
In front of every house in the village there were a group of fraternity and sorority members handing out treats while ‘spooking’ the kids in their costumes. Resident assistants from residence halls all over campus along with a few more Greek organizations had tables set up with games for the visiting trick or treaters.
Assistant Director of Residential Life Laura Ansley and President of RSA Sarah Trombley put the event together. Trombley was happy for the turnout and that everyone was having fun.
“This is actually an annual event put on by RSA which serves as an umbrella organization so each hall is represented,”Ansley said. “Last year was cold and rainy and I believe this is one of the largest crowds we’ve had.”

Trombley was right because every kid had a smile on their face. Parents dressed up with their kids and there were even pets that shared the Halloween spirit. Many of the parents bring their kids for trick-or-treat every year because of the safe environment and the games.
The Greek organizations enjoyed the event almost as much as the families.
“I like the community involvement and giving back,” a sorority member of Alpha Gamma Delta said.
