Cullowhee Valley School 4th graders in Ms. Christin Wilson class are doing a charity fundraiser from June 1 to 11 at the school.
In the campaign “Make a Crane and Save lives”, for 25cents anyone can come in and learn how to make a paper crane from our paper crane masters and save lives.
“It started with a book and we needed a way to apply it. I was thrilled my students wanted to apply what they have been learning in a way that helps others. It was not my idea so I can take very little credit,” said Ms. Wilson.
Cranes are a sign of hope and after reading a story about a young girl getting sick with cancer the class has decided to raise money for Jackson County Good Samaritan Clinic. The kids already made 1000 paper cranes who will also be given to the clinic as a decoration.
“I like it because we can save people with money in a pretty simple way,” said one of the students crane masters, Matthew Brown.
The kids will be able to give lessons at these times: 7:45-8:30, 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:55-2:25 p.m. every school day between 1 and 11 of June.
