Weather did not stop Jackson County residents coming out to “Hall-O-Ween in the Village” Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Rain forced the event’s change of location to the Ramsey Regional Activity Center. It was originally planned to be held outside of Western Carolina University’s Village Residence Hall.
Conditions or not, 517 people came out to “Hall-O-Ween in the Village according to Mei-Lan Kaenzig, an adviser of WCU’s Resident Student Association.
“I thought it was good considering the last minute location change, to have that many people,” Mary Kate Hodor, President of Resident Student Association, said.
“Hall-O-Ween in the Village” is an annual event that the Resident Student Association puts on. The purpose is to give a safe environment for trick-or-treating to the children of Jackson County and University.
“Student participation was high. We had a lot of last minute people wanting to volunteer, wanting to help and wanting to participate, so that was awesome,” Laura Allison, an adviser of WCUs Residence Student Association, said. Over a hundred volunteers showed up to help with the festivities.
