Over the weekend, March 24-26, the Catamount baseball team took their first conference series of the season over East Tennessee State University.
The first games of the series were split after a loss to ETSU who won 14-8 and Western Carolina came back in game two with a 12-11 win.
Brendan Nail started the game Thursday, March 24, with relievers Corey Sikes and Dylan Biumi to follow. The game was suspended at the 7 inning due to rain.
When the game resumed on Friday, March 25, Taylor Durand took the mound with Jake Moebius to close.
Friday was the day of home runs for the Catamounts. Bryson Bowman, Kramer Ferrell, Caleb Robinson and Nobu Suzuki hit home runs.
Left-handed pitcher, Bryan Sammons, started Friday’s second game and ended with Colton Davis.
Saturday, freshman left handed pitcher Tristan Baker pitched 6.1 innings. Junior Chad Mabini had two batters up to the plate before sophomore Dylan Biumi was put in for the second time in the series.
The Cats will take on the nationally ranked, Clemson Tigers, in Cullowhee at 6 p.m Wednesday, March 30.
