Local blues-rock band, The Log Noggins, made a name for themselves Friday night, Oct. 28, at No Name Sports Pub in Sylva.
Vocalist/guitarist Adrian Brinkly, guitarist Gavin Welch, bassist Cole Laughter, and drummer Wayne Redden took the stage at 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 28, and spent the night accruing a crowd of friends and fans. The band played original songs as well as a collection of covers by the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stevie Ray Vaughan and The Allman Brothers Band.
The Log Noggins also have two more shows booked for the near future. This weekend they’ll be at the Colby Deitz Band’s Revival-EP release party at the Mad Batter Food & Film in Sylva, and on Nov. 11, The Log Noggins will be at the Ugly Dog Pub in Cashiers. In two weeks they plan on recording a three-song demo of original music.
The band has been together for about a year and a half, according to WCU student Michael Fohn, their usual live sound tech, and they started performing live shows in April last year. The group’s original demo is the next logical step for them and could be their ticket upward in the music world.
“We want to provide listeners with a tangible recording of our sound,” says Adrian Brinkley. “Also, a demo would give our press kit some muscle. When we send it to different venues, managers will be able to have a good understanding of how a Log Noggins show sounds.”
