Western Carolina University will host its first Open House event of the year this Saturday. Currently, there are 1,000 students and 2,200 guests registered to attend.
Participating departments can set up in the Ramsey Center from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday or starting at 7 a.m. Saturday. All department set up should be complete by 8 a.m. Saturday. Faculty and staff are required to park in Creek Lot 9C for the event.
There will be an information fair from 8:15 to 10 a.m. in the Ramsey Center. This event will give prospective students the chance to explore academic programs that interest them. Vice Chancellor of
student affairs Sam Miller will give a welcome speech at 10 a.m. in the Ramsey Center arena.
Visiting students should choose an academic session they wish to attend before arriving, and then sit in the section shown for that session during the welcome speech in the arena.
A series of information sessions will be offered throughout the day on topics such as paying for college, academic success and study abroad.
There will be tours available throughout the day for the Campus Recreation Center, freshman residence halls and general campus.
Visiting students can redeem their lunch vouchers at the Courtyard Dining Hall or the University Center Food Court, with the exception of Starbucks, Java City and the C-Stores.
Registration is open for future Open House events on Saturday, Feb. 25 and Saturday March 25.
A full schedule of events, a list of academic sessions, a campus map and a link to registration can be found on WCU’s website.
