A new set of comedians, musicians, spoken word poets and hypnotists could be coming to perform in Cullowhee.
Last Minute Productions coordinators met with students on Feb. 17 to discuss the possibility of several varied acts bringing their talents to the campus of WCU. The program, which took place in the UC Illusions room, was designated to seeing what students would like to see in the coming semester.
“We have a lot of opportunities to bring some top-talent to campus,” said Judia Watson, leadership coordinator for LMP.
Notable acts that LMP are trying to bring to campus are Grammy winner Collin Hauser, former “The Voice” stars Matthew Schuler and Angie Keilhauer, two-time Emmy winner Damien Escobar and esteemed circus act, The Great DuBois Circus.
“We have a lot of talent coming in this year,” said music coordinator Kimberly Occancey at the event. “I’m excited to see who will be coming to the show no matter what students choose.”
Other acts include numerous comedians and spoken-word poets, along with “America’s Got Talent” semi-finalist, Chicago Boyz Acrobatic Team.
LMP coordinators will be heading to The National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) today until Feb. 22 to further observe the showcases of other possible acts that could perform at WCU.
“At NACA we get to see all of these groups in person and are able to talk to them about their interest in performing at Western,” said Watson. “None of the programs are booked but we’re planning a semester in advance, and with student input, we can get an opinion of what students want to see in the fall.”
LMP will continue to ask for student input after NACA and will also give updates about possible talents as the spring semester of 2017 continues.
