The Catamount women’s soccer team heads on the road this weekend for their last set of nonconference games. The Cats, who are fresh off of an overtime win against UT Martin, will be battling Campbell University on Friday, Sep. 15 and NC State on Sunday, Sep. 17.
With the conclusion of the nonconference season, the women’s soccer team will be kicking their perspective in a new direction.
“We have a mindset for the chance to bring home a trophy and set of championship rings,” said sophomore Kate Swartwout.
Furthermore, Swartwout said that the end of nonconference is a great time to reflect and measure themselves and their expectations for the coming conference season.
The Cats will have their conference season opener on Sep. 22 against Samford at the Catamount Sports Complex in Cullowhee.
Last year, they fell to Samford in a hard fought battle 2-1, but that is not going to hinder their expectations this time around. Junior midfielder, Eynde Frazier said that they have always been a good team, but feels like the Cats can compete with anyone in their conference.
“My thought is to go into every game and play it like it will be my last game I will ever play,” said Frazier.
Before battling Samford though, they have to finish out the nonconference and hopefully end on a high note.
