The Cats have finally locked down another win in Cullowhee, notching their second win of the season, and for what seemed to be a very dry spell of losses it’s a relief.
The Cats with bats got swinging in the series finale Sunday, March 18 against the Kent State Golden Flashes with a victory of 9-2.
After dropping the series on Saturday, senior catcher Spencer Holcomb said it was reassuring to see them pick up a win and the motivation the boys had.
Holcomb helped get some runs on the board early and went 2-for-4.
Freshman position player, Justice Bigbie went 2-for-5 and also finished with two RBIs.
“My pitching today was good, but the defense behind me was even better. We had one error all weekend, which is huge,” said pitcher, Taylor Purus who went through seven innings.
The Cats have one mid-week game and then move into conference play Friday, March 23 against The Citadel.
“This win feels really, really good. We’ve all been busting our butts getting better, figuring things out. Just to see all of it pay off for everyone, it was great. Definitely, think this win is going to spark us going into the conference!”, said Purus.
