On a typical Saturday morning, Western Carolina University’s campus recreation center would be near empty with just a few fitness junkies enjoying a morning workout. This was not the case this past Saturday, Feb. 16 as spectators and competitors for the annual Rock n’ Rumble bouldering competition crowded around the CRC rock wall.
Spectators at the Rock and Rumble competition witnessed impressive displays of strength, agility and endurance.

The competition was divided between genders and then into three categories based on skill level: novice, intermediate and open. In the novice category, the male winner was Paul Cope from Lees-McRae College and the female winner was Danielle Brown from Brevard College. The intermediate group winners were Casey Zeckle from Liberty University and Madison Altman from Brevard College. Finally, the open category winners were Luke Muehring from Georgia Tech and Bimini Horstmann from Davidson College.
