Grab your video game controllers and gear up in your best cosplay for a day full of friendly, animated competition.
Whee Game Club is hosting a video-game tournament from noon to midnight on Saturday, Sept. 21, on the 2nd floor of the University Center at Western Carolina University.
“Game club is open to everyone. If you want to play games with people, go play games with people,” Whee Game Club representative, Emily Combs said.
To participate in the tournament, you only need to pay $5 at the door to experience all the competitions throughout the day.
As Combs explained, the event will feature six major games including, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Sonic Riders, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Soulcalibur VI, Wii Sports Resort, and Halo 3.
This type of video-game tournament is very popular on campus. Based on previous events, the club expects between 80 to 100 people to compete throughout the day.
All equipment will be provided by the club; however, it is recommended that participants bring their own controllers due to the large crowd.
Small prizes will be offered to the winners of each competition.
Cosplay is also welcomed and encouraged by the club.
