Pride week is set to kick off on Monday, Sept. 23, at the UC Grandroom with a Health and Resource Fair and a discussion on sexually transmitted disease (STD) and health.
The fair starts at noon on the UC Lawn, and students can get free STD testings in the UC Illusions. The panel discussion will be in UC Grandroom at 7 p.m.
Whee Have PRIDE week is organized and sponsored by several WCU organizations like Last Minute Productions (LMP), Intercultural Affairs, and Sexuality and Gender Alliance (SAGA) who have invited different health organizations from Asheville and Franklin.
“This is our first year doing week-long events like this so everyone should get their tickets and come have fun,” said the enrichment coordinator for LMP and initiator of the Health Fair, Autumn James.
During the PRIDE week, students can enjoy a comedy show on Tuesday with North Carolina native Sampson McCornick. Wednesday brings a sex myth presentation by Intercultural Affairs. A movie night featuring “Moonlight” with a follow-up discussion is on Thursday and the week concludes with the popular and always sold out Drag Show on Friday, Sept. 27.
