Super Tuesday, March 3, is the biggest day of the primary campaign and crucial for the Democratic presidential candidates.
Fourteen states from Virginia to California, Tennessee to Texas, as well as North Carolina are up for grabs. These states have significant black, Latino and Asian populations that can be an important factor in who will get the nomination to face Trump in the general elections in November.
According to the media in the Democratic camp, Super Tuesday will bring a third of all delegates, the exact number being 1,357 delegates.
With Pete Buttigieg’s unsuccessful performance in the South Carolina primary on Saturday, he is out of the race. Also, earlier on Monday, Amy Klobuchar dropped out of the race. Both of them endorsed Joe Biden.
In North Carolina, Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden are very close, according to an NBC News/Marist poll. North Carolina brings 110 delegates and is one of the biggest in the Super Tuesday.
The Western Carolina Journalist did short profiles for the candidates running for the seat in U.S. Congress from District 11 to replace Mark Meadows (R). This is a busy race with 12 Republican candidates and five Democratic candidates who will face off in the primary on March 3. The Green Party candidate, Tamara Zwinak, and Libertarian Party candidate, Tracey DeBruhl, will be on the ballot in November.
