VMI Running back, Korey Bridy, rushed for 91 yard and 2 touchdown on 18 carries, leading the Keydets to a 30-7 victory over the Catamounts in Cullowhee on Saturday, March 6.

The Catamount’s struggled to muster any offense together, unable to break into the scoring column until late in the 4th quarter when Freshman Running Back, Mikai Stanley, broke through for a 5-yd touchdown.

“The biggest thing VMI does not get credit for is how salty they are on defense,” said Mark Speir, Head Coach for the Catamounts, in the post game press conference. “We never really could get in a rhythm.”

The Catamount offense was led by Quarterback Ryan Glover and Running Back, Donnovan Spencer. Glover, a grad transfer from Penn, threw for 143 yards on 13 completions, while Spencer rushed for 98 yards on 18 carries.

The biggest upside was the home support for the Catamounts. “We sold 484 tickets,” said Ben Page, director of ticket operations, “We distributed 200 tickets to the student body, 250 tickets to player parents, 80 tickets to visiting team player pass.” In total, including the band, dance and cheer squads, overall attendance was 1,151 fans.
