Considering the 2020 season was cut short due to the global pandemic shutdown, the Catamounts only played 16 games total which is why data was extracted for the first 15 games between the 2018 and 2021 seasons.

According to the data that was scraped from the Catamounts Sports website, the Catamounts only outscored their opponents by 29 runs through the first 15 games of the 2019 season and 5 runs in the 2020 season.

While the data shows that the Catamounts were improving in run differential after being outscored by 78 runs in the first 15 games of the 2018 season. They have shown incredible improvement in run differential through the first 15 games of the 2021 season, outscoring their opponents by 70 runs.

“We have good players,” coach Bobby Moranda said. “You add Pascanel (Ferreras) to the line up and you add Zach Ketterman to the line up and you add Cody Rech to the line up, and (Nate) Stocum. I mean there’s just more players now.”

Coach Moranda is very satisfied with the quality of the players and the results to the point.

“I’d say it’s more talented (than in the past). You know you add 2 to 3 really good players to that and you put them all together it’s impressive,” Moranda explained.

Senior standout player and former team captain Will Prater is happy with how the team is playing following the 2020 success.

“We had some good wins last year but being able to go to UNCW and take a game… As well as taking 2 of 3 at Charlotte, beating a solid Kennesaw State team, and then sweeping St. Johns. It was a great start,” Prater said

With the Catamounts coming off a competitive and exciting loss in a rematch against the #3 nationally ranked Tennessee Volunteers and taking 2 of 3 games against the Samford University Bulldogs. They are going up against the Wake Forest Deacons at home on April, 20.
