Election day has come and passed in Macon County North Carolina. A total of 21,905 people voted in the election, roughly 74% of the 29,343 registered voters in the county. A little over 17,000 of those were early and absent voters. This year’s turnout exceeded the Board of Elections expectation of 20,000 voters.
We spoke to some Macon County residents on election day about voting activity and why they thought people were motivated to vote this year.
