A free holiday snow globe craft pulls a large crowd of WCU students. The Students started lining up at 6:45 and hundreds of students wrapped around the top floor of the University Center (UC). There was laughter, joy, and smiles all around. Which is a rare sight to see during the stressful finals season.
Western Carolina University student Leslie Glass attended the event with a group of friends.
“I arrived at 7 and waited in line for about 45 minutes before getting into the Grand Room. But the wait was worth it for the opportunity to be able to spend some time with my friends and just get a break from the stress-filled week,” Glass said.
Each person was able to get 2-3 figurines and some fluffing for snow. There were snowflake stickers, sticker pearls, and gems that you could stick to the globe.
The event took place a few days before finals week and gave the students a chance at not only taking a much-deserved break from studying. But also a chance to get those creative juices flowing.
Lauren Faunce is a sophomore Natural Resource Management major at WCU. “I really like when LMP puts on these events, especially in the more stressful parts of the academic year. It is nice to be able to take a break for a little bit and do something to take your mind off of the exams and papers I have to work on,” Faunce said.
This event was a massive success, an hour in they had to adjust how many figurines each person could get because of how many students came out and participated in the event. People had to take the project home because there was not enough seating in the grand room for them.
