The Smoky Mountain High School baseball team played their first game under the new stadium lights that had just been installed.
“This county’s been looking for these(stadium lights) for years. And these seniors, I promise them they’d play under the lights… And I’m so excited for these seniors and the entire community,” Head coach Wes Plemmons said.

The Mustangs won the second game in a two-game series against the West Henderson High School Flacons 4-0. This ended their two-game losing streak, making them 1-2 in the Mountain Seven 3A conference and 6-2 overall. The team scored all four runs in the third inning with seven hits.
“These kids work extremely hard. You know, I got down here; I didn’t know how talented we were going to be. You know, but their work ethic and they are talented, so, like, we’re going to surprise a lot of people,” Plemmons said.
The next home game for the team is against Tuscola on Monday, March 24 at 7 p.m.
