
Come out to Dillsboro for the annual Easter Hat Parade on April 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. Registration for the parade begins at noon and the parade starts at Dillsboro Town Hall at 2 p.m.
Attendance is free!
There is also an egg hunt at hosted by Generation Church at 11 a.m. at Monteith Park with 4,000 eggs.
Attendees are invited to bring their own Easter hats or make one for free at Dogwood Crafters from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. The Easter Bunny will also be available for photos from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
It is a walking parade and the roads will not be closed.
“Bring your dogs, or your chicken! We’ve had all those here, we even had a goat one year,” said Town Clerk Debbie Coffey.
The parade has been a tradition since 1989 and usually expects around 500 people to come and enjoy the festivities.
After the Parade prizes will be announced. Brenda Anders, the coordinator of the Easter Hat Parade for over 30 years will hand out the prizes. Prize ribbons will be given to the following categories: Prettiest, Funniest, Largest, Smallest, Most Unusual, Most Easter-like, Best Smelling, Cutest, Most Outrageous, Best In Show and Poofiest hat. There is even a ribbon awarded to the Best Animal in Show!
