The Director of the Jackson County Board of Elections, Amanda Allen said that this elections showed some potential issues with the short time for processing provisional votes.
This elections they had only 19 provisional votes that they could research, people could bring additional documents or identifications and they could get approved on time. “But we’re starting to see how that’s really going to cramp us when we have a much bigger pool of provisional [votes],’ Allen explained adding that if the regulations are not changed and more time is allowed for processing these provisional votes could be a problem in the next years elections. “We are starting to see the reality of what are the things that we do during reconciliation and wrap-up that we’re going to have to kick up this week.”
