The Town of Dillsboro had their monthly meeting Monday, Feb. 9, at Dillsboro Town Hall. The popular topic discussed was the progress of the new Town Hall, including paint and carpet colors and types.
Tim Parris, the mayor of Dillsboro projected that the new building would be ready to move into at the end of March of this year. Representatives from Western Carolina Properties proposed assisting with the sale of the building that currently houses the Town Hall.
January and year-to-date finances were discussed, along with streets and sidewalks. When speaking about the park with the picnic tables needing gravel and the foot bridge needing some maintenance, Tim Parris said “I want to start fixing things in this town. I want to make that look better.”
Other topics of discussion were The Dillsboro Glass Arts Festival taking place on March 28, the Dillsboro Maker’s Market, April 4, the change in name of The Jackson County Green Energy Park to Dillsboro Creative Arts Center, WNC’s Pharoah’s Car Club Show, outdoor movies at the park during the summer, and the possibility of a 4th of July Parade which was proposed by Beth James of America’s 250th Committee.
