WCU Bardo Arts Center welcomes back DRUM TAO to perform their brand new show “The Best” on Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

DRUM TAO is Japan’s elite Taiko drumming ensemble and is currently on their highly anticipated 2026 North American tour in over 40 cities and among them is WCU.
DRUM TAO has sold out shows in 26 countries, and their performance is known for blending the traditional Wadiako (Japanese drums) style with modern elements like dramatic movements, big lights, and captivating costumes. Accompanying the Taiko drums are flutes and harps to bring in a delicate sense.
The group made their Off-Broadway debut in New York 10 years ago, and since developed into the highly honored ensemble. They first performed at the Bardo Arts Center in February 2018.
“We brought DRUM TAO a few years ago and brought them back for their electric energy on stage. We also wanted to take a trip down memory lane with one of the shows we’ve booked in the past 20 years for our anniversary,” Bardo’s marketing manager Rachel Hood said in an email.
High expectations are set, and Hood said she expects a great show.
“We expect this show to be a high-energy marriage between dance and music. It is a show we expect audience members to feel exhilarated by as they experience the show and head home for the night,” Hood said.
Tickets are on sale now at the BAC Box Office at arts.wcu.edu/tickets and prices range from $5 to $25. Their powerful performance will run for approximately two hours, including a 15 minute intermission.
