The Town of Dillsboro’s monthly town meeting March 9 was filled with news about positive changes soon to come to the town.

Dillsboro leaders discussed the new town hall building, viewing the samples of carpet and flooring that had been chosen.
They also voted to authorize the sale of the old Dillsboro Town Hall’s real property in preparation for the move to their new town hall across the road at 31 Front St.
Originally bought in 2021, the lot where the building stands was initially intended to create more public parking in the town.
The renovation plan includes a clerk’s office with updated security features to house historical documents, a conference room for smaller meetings and closed conference sessions, a larger meeting room designed to host up to 50 people and public restrooms.
“The Monteith Park Greenway is moving forward,” Mayor Tim Parris said. “The environmental studies are almost complete.”
Another win for the Town of Dillsboro was the approval of the grant that will allow for the creation of a new Front Street sidewalk.
Members discussed the need for merchants in the town to give input about the times they thought would be best for the work to be done. They also talked about the possibility of putting in new light poles in the downtown area that the town would pay for instead of the merchants.
Parris and a few others spoke of the landscape projects that they hoped would move forward soon, including adding landscape features to the islands at both ends of the town, benches in front of businesses that needed to be replaced, and adding landscape features near some of the sidewalks.
